Sundering for Sword
People say it's good, I personally, like using the 20% Sundering mod for a sword, (even though I dont use sword much).
Some people say it sucks, since you typically attack with 33% speed boost, and sword has the 2nd lowest base damage, with the lowest attack rate. I'm wondering if you all think it's worth it. Also, what about hammer? armor penetration with 19 - 35 damage each hit could hurt, but I want to know what you all think. |

For Sword, Vampiric outdamages Sundering
For Hammer, Sundering is worth carrying if you are going to swap to it in order to Spike.

Vamp and sundering are good for both pve and pvp. up to you really. Personally I prefer 10/10 furious in pve at all times.

the point of using sundering is for the potential damage spikes that it can provide, to catch opponents off guard. unfortunately, this calls for a high max damage on the weapon, which swords don't have.
for pve play, use vamp all the way. nobody cares about damage spikes in pve, so the greater DPS that vamp gives is superior. not to mention, cheaper. |

Sundering is the mod of choice for people who can't be bothered to weapon swap. Like heroes. And players who want to show off a shiny, new EBlade or whatever is popular these days. Vampiric is the superior option in terms of dps augmentation, but it also has a small malus. Sundering is just a smaller boon with no real downside outside of opportunity costs.
There is also the option to use elemental hilts instead, but it's kind of a wash. More effective against warriors, less effective against rangers. Again, swapping is main idea here, but sometimes people just get lazy. |

Sundering is for builds that don't benefit from any other specific mod. I look at it as a generic default.

Just a tiny correction: you are wrong about the attack rate.

Anyway, I suggest running vamp on sword and swap to your secondary sword set off battles. Usually an elemental. But there is not to much wrong with running sundering in PvE if you are lazy and just strolling along with heroes. Have fun. |

Yea , sword has the most regular damage of W weaps so if you switch to sword , vampiric mod adds 3 dmg always and with sundering you have 20% chance to add 5 ot 7 maybe ? ( depends on foe level ofc ), sometimes is worth , sometimes not.

Sundering is worth it if you're using a scythe.
It's decent when you use a hammer (even though vampiric is still a bit better) All other weapons ==> vampiric > sundering |

Imo, Sundering for sword is exactly what Ennes X said: generic default.

Ok, first off, that comment was not needed. Second off, I was just curious, as I don't even play swords. I use hammer, and I was just curious. If you need to troll along the forums, or ad some negative feedback, find a new game.

Don't forget the healing from vampiric, it more than negates the degen and you get a small burst of healing if you hit a lot of foes with something like whirlwind attack.
Sure it's not much, but it could save your arse just as easily as the difference between a near perfect shield and a perfect one. |

Never count on the heal from a Vampiric weapon to actually heal you. The difference between what you lose due to the degen and what you gain on hit is minimal, barely enough to call it healing. It makes up for the degen, but that's it. Again, this is on max Vampiric (3 for Axe/Sword, 5 for Hammer, anything under that won't even keep up with the degen - but that's what Healers are for )
Furious should be used on a Spear in PvP, or for certain situations in PvE (farming, when you are Blinded or Blocked and cannot switch targets) so that the chance for double Adrenaline gain is worth it. Otherwise, it triggers 10% of the time, 1 out of 10 theoretical attacks, and therefore isn't worth the weapon-slot, unless you were going to use Sundering, then I'd say go with the Furious (since you were probably going to use the Sundering out of laziness and not wanting to weapon-swap), double Adrenaline on a 10% chance is better than a couple damage due to Sundering on a 20% chance, but only for Sword due to the narrow damage range.
